• As of  December 4, 2009 there were 3,752 patients listed at transplant centers in Florida.
• Roughly 17 people die each day waiting for an organ to become available for them.
• A new name is added to the waiting list every 13 minutes.
• There were only 7,984 deceased organ donors in 2008.
• There were only 6,215 living donors in 2008. Living donors are those who give a kidney or portion of their liver or lung to a relative or friend.
• In 2008, there were 27,958 organ transplants performed in the United States. Of those, 1,921 were performed at Florida transplant centers.
