LifeQuest created this handbook to aid our hospital partners, schools, area businesses, civic groups, faith communities, volunteers and others in developing promotions in support of National Donate Life Month. If you would like to create or promote an activity for National Donate Life Month, please contact us at
National Donate Life Month (NDLM) is celebrated annually during April and is a time when the nation’s donation and transplantation community heightens its promotion of the need for life-saving organ, tissue and eye donors. The month features local, regional and national activities to encourage Americans to register as organ and tissue donors. NDLM also honors those who have saved lives through the Gift of Life.
Our donor family quilt is one of our most treasured projects. Named for a young donor from Tallahassee, this quilt project contains a collection of memories from donor families throughout our service area. We have 10 panels of the quilt, with each square lovingly crafted by the family of a donor. We display the quilt panels at special events throughout the community, and when not in use, the panels are on display in our offices throughout northern Florida. Participation in the quilt project is available to all LifeQuest donor families
The Katie Ride is a bicycling and fundraising event named for Katie Caples, a young girl from Jacksonville who became an organ donor in 1998. The ride has courses ranging from seven to 100 miles with full support along the way. Funds raised through the Katie Ride are used to promote donor education in area high schools.
Tribute is a reverent ceremony held each October that unites donor families, transplant recipients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. It is a time to celebrate the wonderful gifts of life given by LifeQuest donors and to recognize these heroes with a candle-lighting ceremony, testimonials and our award-winning video production, Faces of Life.
