LifeQuest covers a 36-county territory in northern Florida, which spans from Jacksonville in the east, to Ocala in the south, to Pensacola in the west. This region supports a population of roughly 3.7 million people and spans 25,000 square miles, roughly 20 percent of the state’s population and more than 40 percent of its land mass.

LifeQuest works with more 70 hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout this region to provide professional training to healthcare professionals involved in the identification and referral of potential donors and in the critical care and medical management of designated donors, as well as to hospital administration on the state and federal guidelines and laws associated with organ donor protocols.

Our hospital services team ensures that all of our partner hospitals receive appropriate training in the clinical triggers for organ donation and the protocols for donation after circulatory death (DCD). Our staff conducts routine reviews of medical charts to ensure timely referrals of potential donors, to ensure that no opportunity for an individual’s wish to become a donor is missed.

LifeQuest participates actively in the national Community of Practice, a collaborative effort to increase organ donation rates. This initiative ensures that best practices in organ donation in one area become common practices nationwide. Hospitals, transplant centers and OPOs that meet or exceed the levels of performance set by the Community of Practice are awarded Medals of Honor by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resource Services Administration.
