Samuel Ritchey was 18-years-old when he was in a serious car accident. Doctors told his parents that he likely would not make it through the night because of the injuries he sustained. Samuel passed away the next day, and the option of donation was presented to his parents.
Samuel’s mother, Elizabeth, recalled discussing organ donation with Samuel when he first got his driver license.
“He chose to become an organ donor because he could see the good it could bring to others,” Elizabeth said. “Samuel's organ donation gave three people a second chance at life and even gave sight to another.”
Each time Elizabeth shares her son’s story and lets others know how his gifts have helped so many others, she feels it is keeping his memory living on.
